The Dirty Dozen Cast 1967
In March 1944, an officer named Major John Reisman (played by Lee Marvin) gets a very secret mission called Project Amnesty. His boss, Major General Sam Worden (played by Ernest Borgnine), gives him the job. The plan is to take some of the worst soldiers in prison and train them to become commandos. Their mission is to attack a big house (a château) near Rennes, France, where many German officers will be meeting. If they complete the mission, it will help stop the German army before D-Day.
The deal is simple — if any of the prisoners survive this dangerous mission, they will be set free as a reward. Major Reisman meets the twelve prisoners chosen for the mission. They include Franko (played by John Cassavetes), a robber with mob ties; Wladislaw (Charles Bronson), a former officer; Jefferson (Jim Brown), a brave Black soldier; Posey (Clint Walker), a gentle giant who was bullied in the army; and Maggott (Telly Savalas), a dangerous man who believes he is doing God’s work.
Five of these men are waiting to be executed for murder, while the others have been given long jail sentences for crimes like stealing, fighting, or lying. Reisman takes control and shows them he’s the boss, but at first, the group doesn’t trust or like him. Under the watch of Sergeant Bowren (Richard Jaeckel) and his military police, the men slowly start to work together when they are ordered to build their own training camp.

In the movie The Dirty Dozen, the soldiers are sent for parachute training. The training camp is run by Colonel Everett Dasher Breed, who doesn’t like Major Reisman at all. Breed doesn’t know about the secret mission called Project Amnesty, so he tries to spy and find out what’s going on.
But Major Reisman, with help from the twelve convicts, stands up to Breed. Together, they push Breed and his men out of the camp, showing that the “Dirty Dozen” are tough and united.
