Boong Movie Story
Boong tells the story of two young boys from India and their brave journey. Boong is a playful schoolboy who often loves playing small jokes. His father has gone to another place for work. They notice racism, discrimination against transgender people, and rising community tensions. They also begin to understand why someone might want Boong to believe that his father is dead.
Boong is a schoolboy who believes nothing is impossible. He wants to give his mother, Mandakini, the best surprise gift. He dreams of bringing his father, Joykumar, back home. Joykumar left Manipur and went to the border town of Moreh near Myanmar to find better work. After some time, he stopped contacting his family. Soon, rumors started spreading that he had died. Boong refuses to believe this sad news.
Director Lakshmipriya Devi tells this story with care and honesty. The film shows the strong bond between two friends while also touching on ethnic tensions in the region. Gugun Kipgen and Angom Sanamatum give warm and memorable performances, and the movie also has many funny moments.
Today, the tensions shown in the film have sadly turned into real violence. Because of this, Boong feels even more meaningful. It reminds us that even in difficult times, children can still find hope and strength.
