The Rookie Season 8 Episode 11 Story Recap

In The Rookie Season 8, Wesley is going through a very tough time. The show keeps putting him in difficult situations. It is frustrating because his dream of becoming DA keeps getting blocked again and again.

  • You start to wonder, why can’t they just let Wesley succeed?

Wesley’s life is complicated. He was a defense lawyer and is now a prosecutor. He is also running for DA. On top of that, he is married to a detective. Because of this, people from all sides can target him. They can try to stop him or ruin his plans anytime.

There is normal anger, and then there is something much darker going on. It feels like people are working together in a very wrong way. Then there is Malcolm. Actor Sean Patrick Thomas plays him really well. He comes off as smart, smug, and a bit dangerous. It is clear that Malcolm is helping Glasser with his plans.

But the big question is why:

  • What is Malcolm getting from all this?

Glasser is very manipulative. He knows how to control people. But Malcolm helping him feels deeper and more serious. It also feels a bit repetitive. We already saw similar things with Monica. And then there is Wesley. At first, he looks like the only honest lawyer. But even he had problems in the past. He was under Elijah’s control for some time.

So in the end, no one in the series feels completely clean. He was already in prison for murder.

  • Why would Nowak even help Glasser?
  • So what did he gain by doing more killings for him?

It does not make much sense. It feels like there is some hidden deal behind it. The trap was easy to see. It was not shocking at all. Things happened just as expected. Glasser once again played smart. He manipulated everything. He reduced the charges and got away with almost nothing.

In the end, even the small charge was removed after the confession. Now, a dangerous serial killer is free again. That is the scary part. The only small hope is this—Glasser is very arrogant. He may start killing again, and that could help catch him next time.

It feels sad that more people may get hurt before Glasser is finally caught. Now the big question is how he will deal with Harper. The moment he got out of prison, he went straight to her. He even tried to mock her, like taking her doughnuts and talking trash.

Part of me wants to see a strong face-off between Glasser and Harper. A cat-and-mouse game where she finally takes him down.

But at the same time, the show focuses too much on its villains. That can feel a bit tiring sometimes. The Rookie has some really strong villains. But at some point, you start to question the heroes.

  • If the bad guys keep escaping, how good are the heroes really?

It feels strange that these dangerous criminals cannot stay in jail for long.

On a lighter note, Skip Tracer Randy’s return was not as annoying as expected. His accent suddenly disappearing was actually funny and added a nice comic moment.
