Over Your Dead Body Story Overview
Dan Burton is a struggling movie director. He made only one film in his career. Now, he earns money by shooting pop-up ads. He is also unhappy in his marriage with his wife Lisa, who wants to become an actress.
One day, Dan visits his father Michael at a nursing home. After that, Dan and Lisa go to their cabin near a lake for the weekend. Dan secretly plans to kill Lisa with the help of Henry, a former criminal.
At the cabin, Dan tries to cook Lisa’s favorite meal, but it goes badly. Later, he gets ready to kill her and hide her body in the lake. He even keeps a bag of rocks on his boat for the plan.
But before Dan can attack her, Lisa shocks him with a taser and ties him up. She points one of his father’s guns at him. Dan then admits his murder plan. However, Lisa shocks him again by saying she also planned to kill him during the weekend. She wanted to make it look like a hunting accident.
The couple starts talking about the problems in their marriage. They argue about Dan’s money problems and Lisa cheating on him.
Dan tries to kill Lisa. She finds out he promised Henry half of her $100,000 insurance money. But Lisa says they each have a $1 million policy. They fight, and Henry is shot dead. Dan and Lisa chase each other, but fugitives Pete, Todd, and Allegra fall from the attic and knock them out.
The fugitives tie Dan and Lisa in the basement. Pete says he and Todd are killers who escaped prison. Allegra is a prison officer who loves Pete. They hid in the cabin before Dan and Lisa came. They want money and plan to hurt Dan, but Lisa says she will take them to the bank.
Lisa also escapes and takes the boat key. Todd catches Lisa, but Dan saves her. They hide in a closet from Pete and Allegra. Dan fights Pete to save Lisa, but both are caught again.
