G. V. Prakash Kumar is an Indian music composer, singer, actor, and film producer. He was born on 13 June 1987. He mainly works in Tamil films. Prakash Kumar has won two National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards, and three SIIMA Awards.
G. V. Prakash started his career as a child singer in the 1990s. In 2006, he became a music composer with the movie Veyil. He became very popular in the early 2010s. In 2015, he made his acting debut with the movie Darling.
His father is G. Venkatesh, and his mother is singer A. R. Reihana. She is the sister of famous music composer A. R. Rahman. His sister, Bhavani Sre, also works in the film industry.
G. V. Prakash married singer Saindhavi in 2013. They welcomed a daughter in 2020. In 2024, they announced their separation. Their divorce was finalized in 2025.
As a child, G. V. Prakash first sang in the movie Gentleman (1993), which was composed by his uncle, A. R. Rahman. He also sang songs for music composers Harris Jayaraj and A. R. Rahman.
