Cameron “Cam” Cade grows up loving football. His favorite team is the San Antonio Saviors, and his hero is their star quarterback, Isaiah White. But during a big championship game, Isaiah gets badly hurt while scoring the winning touchdown. Cam’s dad tells him that “real men” make sacrifices like that.
Years later, Cam’s dad has passed away, and Cam is now a talented young football player. He wants to join the football league, and everyone around him—his family, his girlfriend, and his agent Tom—supports him. But one night, while practicing alone, someone wearing a creepy goat costume attacks Cam, hitting him hard in the head. The injury could ruin his future.
Even though another hit could cause permanent brain damage, Cam still tries to prepare for the league tryouts. But because of his concussion, he gets angry easily and finally refuses to go to the combine. Tom then tells him exciting news: Isaiah White wants to train Cam personally at his secret desert training camp.
Cam agrees and travels to the desert. On the way, he meets some of Isaiah’s obsessed fans, led by a woman named Marjorie, who try to scare Cam so he won’t replace their hero.
At the camp, Isaiah starts training Cam. But the training is strange and painful. Isaiah makes Cam do dangerous drills, like getting hit in the face over and over by a football machine and headbutting another player hard. Cam also keeps seeing scary masked people, which he thinks are just hallucinations from his head injury.
Isaiah gives Cam secret injections that he says are “energy boosters.” Cam later learns these shots are actually Isaiah’s blood.
One day, Marjorie attacks Cam in a sauna. Cam fights back, and Isaiah suddenly shows up and kills her with no guilt at all. This shocks Cam.
Cam tries to leave, but Isaiah’s wife, Elsie, comforts him and then seduces him. Cam wakes up to Isaiah pointing a gun at him, accusing him of sleeping with Elsie. Isaiah mocks Cam for feeling guilty, saying winners never feel bad.
Elsie later takes Cam to a secret party with the football team’s owners. They make Cam drink a strange red liquid—again, Isaiah’s blood. Cam becomes dizzy and discovers the team doctor’s severed head, making him panic. He passes out soon after.
Cam wakes up in an ice bath with an IV pumping Isaiah’s blood into him. He pulls out the needle and uses a serum that the doctor gave him before dying. Cam grabs a sharp trophy, ready to fight.
Cam finds Isaiah watching videos of cheering fans. Isaiah explains the truth:

Cam refuses and becomes furious. He kills Elsie, the owners, and the masked man who attacked him earlier. The masked man turns out to be Isaiah’s trainer, Malek. Cam only spares Tom, but Tom is dragged into a glowing pentagram and destroyed by an unseen force.
Bloody, exhausted, and traumatized, Cam walks out of the compound, past masked cheerleaders, and into the desert alone.
Production
Writers Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie first created a script called Goat, named after the sports term “G.O.A.T.” (Greatest of All Time). They sent the script to studios in April 2022. In June 2022, Monkeypaw Productions and Universal Pictures bought the script.
Later that year, the script became very popular in Hollywood and was added to the 2022 Black List, which includes the best unmade movie scripts.
In January 2024, it was announced that Justin Tipping would direct the movie and Marlon Wayans would star in it. Actor Tyriq Withers also joined the cast. In February, Julia Fox joined the project too.
The movie was renamed Him, and its release was planned for September 2025.
