The Kerala Story 2 Plot Overview
Fatima is caught at the Afghanistan-Iran border. People think she is a terrorist. During questioning, she tells the truth. Her real name is Shalini Unnikrishnan. She is from Kerala. She says she was tricked and brainwashed. She was forced to change her religion. She was pushed into a terror group.
The story goes back a few months. Shalini lives with her mother and grandmother. She goes to the city to study nursing. There she meets three girls. Nimah, Gitanjali, and Asifa. They become close friends. But Asifa has a secret. She works for a radical group. She slowly starts changing their thinking.
She says there is only one religion. Only one god is true. Others will never be saved. Asifa and her friends create fear. They control the girls’ minds. Soon Shalini and Gitanjali change. They start wearing hijab. They believe the same ideas. Nimah feels something is wrong. She moves away from them. She breaks the friendship.
Shalini falls in love with Rameez. She becomes pregnant. Then pressure starts. She is forced to convert. But Rameez leaves her. It was part of the plan. Shalini is alone and scared. Then she is pushed to marry Ishaq. She is told he will protect her. She believes this lie.
At the wedding, her mother comes. She cries and begs her to return home. But Shalini refuses. She leaves her mother crying. Shalini does not know the truth. The marriage is also a trap. On honeymoon in Sri Lanka, her phone is taken away. She is not sent back to India. She is taken to Pakistan. Then moved across many borders.
She suffers a painful journey. Finally, she reaches Syria. There, her life changes forever. She is trained to become a suicide bomber. The terror group takes full control of her life.
