The Longest Yard Movie has been remade three times. The first remake was a British movie called Mean Machine (2001), starring Vinnie Jones. The second remake was the American version in 2005, also called The Longest Yard, starring Adam Sandler and featuring Burt Reynolds as the coach, Nate Scarborough. The third remake was an Egyptian movie called Captain Masr (2015).

Paul “Wrecking” Crewe is a former famous football player. One day, he gets into a fight with his rich girlfriend Melissa and drives away in her fancy car without asking. He ends up in a police chase and even fights with two police officers. Because of this, Paul is sent to Citrus State Prison for 18 months.
Inside the prison, other inmates don’t respect him because he was kicked out of the NFL for cheating in a game. The prison warden, Rudolph Hazen, loves football and runs a team made up of prison guards. He asks Paul to help coach his team and help them win a big championship. At first, Paul doesn’t want to, but after some pressure from the head guard, Captain Knauer, he finally agrees to play in a practice game.
Paul builds his own football team with prisoners, including Samson, a strong weightlifter, and Connie Shokner, a tough fighter and martial arts expert.
The prisoners’ football team, called the “Mean Machine,” starts the game really well. By halftime, the score is very close — the guards are winning 15–13. But then, the warden Hazen gives Crewe a terrible choice. He says that if Crewe doesn’t let the guards win by at least 21 points, he will blame him for Caretaker’s death.
Crewe doesn’t want anyone else to get hurt, so he agrees to lose the game, but only if Hazen promises not to harm the other prisoners. Hazen lies and tells Captain Knauer to make his guards hurt the prisoners badly once they’re 21 points ahead.
Crewe starts making mistakes on purpose, and soon the guards are winning 35–13. Then Crewe leaves the game, and the guards begin to injure many of the prisoners. The prisoners feel angry and betrayed, thinking Crewe has turned against them.
After the prisoners win the game, everyone is cheering and celebrating. Crewe walks slowly across the field while the crowd starts to leave. The angry warden Hazen thinks Crewe is trying to run away, so he tells Knauer to shoot him.
But Knauer stops and doesn’t shoot because now he respects Crewe. Crewe was not escaping at all — he was just going to pick up the football. Feeling ashamed for almost shooting him, Knauer gives the gun back to Hazen and says, “Game ball.”
Crewe walks back to Hazen and hands him the football, saying, “Stick this in your trophy case.” Then he walks away into the stadium tunnel with Pop, who smiles and says, “I knew you could do it!”
