The season was approved in 2022 and was filmed in Bangkok, Phuket, and Ko Samui between February and August 2024. Mike White, the creator of the show, wrote and directed all eight episodes.
This season has a large cast, including Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Scott Glenn, Walton Goggins, Lalisa Manobal, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, and many others. Natasha Rothwell and Jon Gries also return from earlier seasons. The story follows the staff and rich guests at a wellness resort in Thailand. Most critics liked the season, but some said it was too slow and felt the final episode was not very strong.

Executive producer Mark Kamine said that Mike White wanted Season 3 to focus on Eastern philosophy from the very beginning. So, the first list of locations included places like Bali, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. After talking and researching, the team narrowed it down to Japan and Thailand, and then they took research trips to both countries.
During one trip, Mike White got bronchitis and had to use a steroid nebulizer. While resting, he imagined a group of Western tourists coming to Thailand to find spiritual healing, which inspired the story. The artwork in the opening credits was based on murals from Wat Supat, a temple they visited.

White did not want to visit Ko Samui at first because he had bad memories from when he stayed there during The Amazing Race. But another producer scouted the Four Seasons resort there, and White was finally convinced to check it out. The production for Season 3 was delayed because of the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, so the release was pushed to 2025.
