Because of this, the show feels more like planned reality entertainment than a true look at leadership or the loneliness of being at the top. At its heart, The CEO Club is about empowerment. The difficult and exhausting parts of leadership are mostly missing. Everything is shown through a shiny image of success, which makes the experience feel empty.
These women are clearly talented and successful. Still, it is hard to ignore that one of the stars is also producing the show. Because of this, every storyline feels carefully shaped to avoid anything too honest or harsh.
This is especially frustrating because the show claims it wants to inspire the next generation of women by rewriting the rules. That idea is strong, but the direction Amazon Prime takes feels wrong.
