The Miniature Wife Story Overview
Lindy and Les Littlejohn are a married couple. Their relationship is not strong. They both want to fix it, but they keep hurting each other. Les is working on a machine that can make things very small. He wants money for his project from a rich man named Hilton Smith. Lindy is a professor and a famous writer. She once had an emotional affair with Les’ partner, Richard.
Soon, Lindy learns something shocking. Richard sent her student’s story to a magazine using Lindy’s name. Lindy asks her publicist, Terry, to hide this problem. At a charity event in their home, Lindy talks to Hilton. She complains about Les always working. This makes Hilton more interested in the project, and he agrees to invest money.
Later, Les cancels their plan to renew their vows. Lindy feels very hurt. She decides to leave with Richard. When Les finds out Hilton will control more of the project, he brings the machine home. Lindy tells Les she wants to leave. They have a big fight. They both feel the other person never supported them. During the fight, the machine turns on by mistake. Lindy picks it up, and it sprays a formula on her. She suddenly becomes only 6 inches tall.
Lindy wakes up in a dollhouse that looks like her real home. She feels scared and cries. Les now looks like a giant to her. He tries to help her and make her feel safe. Les then learns bad news. If he does not fix the formula in 30 days, he will lose everything. He could even go to jail. A scientist named Vivienne joins the project to help. Lindy and Les try to talk about how to tell their child, Lulu. But things stay difficult.
Richard visits Lindy and takes her around the house on a tiny bike. Meanwhile, Terry tries to hide Lindy’s mistake, but the truth comes out. The student, Jackie, knows everything. Lindy gets angry when she sees Richard has no real plan. She leaves him and faces danger alone. She even fights and kills a fly.
At the same time, Lulu meets an old friend. At a bar, she gets drunk and feels upset. She feels insecure because of her mother’s success. In the end, the story shows a broken family trying to deal with love, mistakes, and big changes.
